The Ministry of Stories was founded by Lucy, Ben and best-selling author Nick Hornby who wanted to create a space for young people to discover the joy of the written word. The centre was inspired by 826 Valencia and resides behind its own fantastical shop Hoxton Street Monster Supplies. The shop has been selling goods such as Cubed Earwax and Thickest Human Snot to London Monsters since 1818 and all proceeds from the shop go back into the Ministry. Through a range of innovative writing clubs, and one-to-one mentoring, it helps young people discover and realise their own creative potential.
“Innovation and the confidence to engage in it is vitally important in children’s education. That's one of the reasons we set up the Ministry of Stories, to help inspire confident and creative students who will be the innovators of the future.”
