Based in Plexal, Badu Sports is a multi-dimensional organisation that embodies education and community development. It has a primary focus of using sports to broaden, advance, develop and understand.
It exposes children to positive role models who motivate and educate them, using a holistic approach to develop, support and enable them in their communities.
Mentoring is used as an early intervention measure to support the mental health and wellbeing of young people who have endured life changing experiences. Working with the whole family, schools and the community, ensures a “team around the child”, thus providing young people with positive guidance to set and achieve their own goals.
Badu works with families from deprived and disadvantaged backgrounds: those that may be at risk of exclusion or social isolation, anxiety and depression, those from low-income backgrounds who have higher aspirations, and those who may be at risk of gang involvement and anti-social behaviour.
“Innovation is about finding new and innovative ways to empower and support the delivery of Physical Education to improve or better the outcomes of young people in their communities.”
