Plastic-Free Hackney is a Hackney-based campaign group run by Bettina Maidment and Daisy Hutchison. It is a grassroots organisation that has rapidly grown over the course of a year and a half, becoming a CIC (Community Interest Company) earlier in the year. Committed to creating a cleaner and greener community for everyone; the primary aim is to raise awareness of the issue of plastic pollution and reduce the amount of single-use and unnecessary plastics used in the borough.
Plastic-Free Hackney aims to do this through a circular approach: raising awareness of the issues of single-use plastics and working with groups to find sustainable alternatives; organising litter picks and community events to remove plastic pollution from our environment and instigating planting projects that benefit both the community and our natural world.
