Wayfindr is an award-winning social tech non-profit, with ambitions to help the world’s 285 million blind people navigate indoor and outdoor environments independently through inclusive and accessible audio navigation.
Formed in 2015 and based in London, Wayfindr developed the world’s first internationally-approved standard for accessible audio navigation through successful trials in London, Oslo, Barcelona, Sydney and Los Angeles. The Wayfindr Open Standard formed the basis of the United Nation’s International Telecommunications Union’s F.921 and the United States’ Consumer Technology Association’s Standard 2076.
Ensuring compatibility and interoperability for audio navigation systems has brought widespread adoption closer than ever. Wayfindr continues to promote the Open Standard, run trials of accessible audio-navigation systems around the world and support organisations in installing them.
“The spark of innovation lies in that moment where we can apply a new technology to an old problem and change the world in a way no one thought possible.”
